The Lokoja Forum of Patriots (LFP), in collaboration with the Lokoja Traditional Council, has held a strategic meeting with coordinators from the ten wards of Lokoja Local Government Area ahead of the 2026 Lokoja Boat Regatta.
The meeting, which focused on preparations for the annual cultural and tourism festival, was held on Monday at the Lokoja Local Government Secretariat and was presided over by the Secretary of the Lokoja Forum of Patriots, Alhaji Ali Danlami Ibrahim.
Speaking during the meeting, Alhaji Ali Danlami Ibrahim said the gathering was aimed at interacting with the various ward coordinators and assessing their level of preparedness for the forthcoming regatta.
He stressed the importance of effective coordination among the wards to ensure a successful and well-organised festival, noting that the event has continued to attract attention to Lokoja’s rich cultural heritage.
Responding, the coordinators from the various wards assured the forum of their full preparedness and commitment towards ensuring the success of the 2026 Boat Regatta.
They pledged to mobilise residents and stakeholders within their respective wards and work closely with the organisers to deliver a memorable festival.
The LFP also assured members of the public that this year’s regatta would bring significant economic benefits to Lokoja, particularly through increased commercial activities, tourism and opportunities for local businesses.
The forum therefore called on Lokoja indigenes, residents, business owners and other well-meaning individuals to support the 2026 Boat Regatta financially, morally and materially to ensure the success of the festival.
The forum urged Lokojans to take ownership of the event and support efforts aimed at making the 2026 edition bigger, more successful and beneficial to the people.
According to the LFP, the annual Boat Regatta remains an important platform for promoting Lokoja’s cultural identity, attracting visitors and creating opportunities for economic growth within the community.
The 2026 Lokoja Boat Regatta is scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
