The Lokoja Muslim Ummah commemorated the 1448 AH/2026 Maulud-un-Nabiyy (S.A.W.) with a gathering of Muslim faithful at the Lokoja Central Mosque.
Held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the celebration was organised by the Muslim Ummah, Ahbab and Ahlul Faidati Tijaniyyah Al-Ibrahimiyyah under the leadership of the Maigari of Lokoja and Chairman of the Traditional Council of Chiefs, Lokoja Local Government Area, HRH Alh. Dr. Ibrahim Muhammadu Kabiru Maikarfi IV.
The Waziri of Lokoja, Alhaji Idris Abdulrahman, represented the Maigari of Lokoja, HRH Alh. Dr. Ibrahim Muhammadu Kabiru Maikarfi IV, at the event.
The gathering brought together Islamic scholars, traditional leaders, government representatives and Muslim faithful from Lokoja and beyond to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and reflect on his teachings and exemplary life.
The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, was represented by Hon. Adams Bala Justice.
Rt. Hon. Umar Yusuf Aliyu, Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, served as the Chief Host, while the Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, was also listed as a host.
The spiritual fathers at the occasion included Sheikh Aminu Shabban, Chief Imam of Lokoja; Khalifah Sheikh Kadi Nurudeen Yusuf Abdullah; Khalifah Sheikh Nurudeen Yusuf; and Col. Isah Arif Yabagi (rtd.).
Dr. Muhammad Rajab Naibi, Dan Majin of LKJ and Wazirin Hasken Nupe, chaired the occasion, while Sayyida Ummul-Hani Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass served as the Spiritual Mother of the Day.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Naibi commended the organisers for their commitment to sustaining the annual Maulud celebration.
He described the gathering as an important platform for Muslims to reflect on the life, teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.). He urged the organisers and the wider Muslim community to continue promoting peace, love and unity.
Dr. Naibi also prayed for Nigeria, asking Allah to grant the country peace, stability and prosperity and to protect it from insecurity and other challenges confronting the nation.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakari, explained the significance of the Maulud celebration and stressed the importance of remembering the life, teachings and exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).
Sheikh Zakari said the occasion provided an opportunity for Muslims to deepen their understanding of the Prophet’s message and reflect on the virtues he demonstrated throughout his life.
He prayed for all those who attended the celebration, asking Allah to reward their efforts, accept their supplications and bless them with peace, good health and prosperity.
Representing Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Hon. Adams Bala Justice commended the organisers and Muslim faithful for sustaining the Maulud celebration and using the occasion to promote the teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).
Bala Justice urged Muslims to remain law-abiding citizens and continue to uphold peace, tolerance, unity and respect for constituted authorities. He stressed that peaceful coexistence was essential to the progress and development of Kogi State and Nigeria.
Delivering his goodwill message, the Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, commended the organisers for sustaining the Maulud celebration and bringing Muslim faithful together to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).
Comrade Adamu called on Muslims to follow the teachings and exemplary lifestyle of the Prophet, stressing that adherence to his virtues would promote peace, unity, love and peaceful coexistence in society.
In his remarks, the Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom, Engr. Muhammad Faruq Kakanda, expressed appreciation to the organisers for their efforts in sustaining the Maulud celebration.
He prayed for lasting peace, unity and stability in Lokoja, Kogi State and Nigeria, while urging Muslims to continue living according to the teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).
In their messages, Islamic scholars urged Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), particularly his honesty, compassion, humility, patience, forgiveness and commitment to peaceful coexistence.
They emphasised that the significance of Maulud should extend beyond the celebration itself, urging the faithful to apply the Prophet’s teachings and exemplary character in their daily lives and interactions.
The scholars also called on Muslims to promote peace, love, unity and tolerance, noting that these values are essential to the development of Lokoja, Kogi State and Nigeria.
The celebration featured prayers and Islamic teachings, with participants praying for peace, stability and progress in the country.
The organisers expressed their appreciation to the traditional rulers, government officials, Islamic scholars, community leaders and Muslim faithful who attended the event.
They also called for continued unity and peaceful coexistence among residents of Lokoja.
