Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward ‘E’, Lokoja, have again appealed to party leaders to zone the Lokoja I State Constituency House of Assembly seat to the ward ahead of the next election.
The appeal was made on Monday during a well-attended press conference held at Sarkin-Noma area of Lokoja.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, the chairman of the group said the demand for zoning the seat to Ward ‘E’ was a collective decision reached after extensive consultations with party members and loyal supporters.
He explained that sometime last year, following repeated calls from supporters, stakeholders and ward executives convened a joint meeting to examine their chances in the forthcoming elections.
According to him, at the end of the meeting, members unanimously resolved to formally request party leaders to zone the House of Assembly seat to Ward ‘E’. A committee was thereafter constituted to present the request to party leaders.
He noted that the committee carried out its assignment diligently and had since submitted its report.
The chairman, however, expressed concern over a statement reportedly made on Saturday, April 11, 2026, by some party members which was said to be contrary to the earlier collective resolution.
He said while those members were entitled to their personal political opinions and aspirations, the stakeholders and executive members of the ward considered it necessary to clarify that no fresh position had been taken against the earlier agreement.
Also speaking at the press conference, the Local Government Secretary, the Ward Councillor and the Ward Party Chairman all maintained the same position, stressing that Ward ‘E’ remains united in its demand for the zoning of the Lokoja I House of Assembly seat to the ward.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the briefing, Hon. Adam Bala Justice and Hon. Ibrahim Shaibu Finidi, both aspirants for the seat, aligned themselves with the position of the stakeholders.
They commended party members in the ward for standing together and reaffirmed their commitment to the collective aspiration of securing the House of Assembly ticket for Ward ‘E’.
The stakeholders reaffirmed that Ward ‘E’ is fully prepared to contest and win the seat, while appealing to party leaders to consider their request in the interest of fairness and equity.
They expressed optimism that the prevailing political circumstances would work in their favour.
