Supporters of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi have celebrated the uploading of his name by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal as the party’s candidate for the Kogi West Senatorial District seat ahead of the 2027 general election.
The celebration, captured in a video circulating on social media, showed party faithful singing, dancing and chanting solidarity slogans while mocking critics who had doubted the senator’s emergence as the APC candidate.
Speaking during the celebration, Hon. Akinola Cova said Senator Karimi enjoys overwhelming support across the seven local government areas of Kogi West, including Lokoja, Kogi/Koton-Karfe, Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Mopamuro, Yagba East and Yagba West.
According to him, the senator’s re-election bid is a movement anchored on consolidating the achievements of his first term, including road infrastructure, healthcare interventions, women and youth empowerment, students’ bursary programmes, rural electrification and water infrastructure projects.
He expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory in Kogi West at the 2027 general election and urged supporters to remain united and continue mobilising for the party.
The supporters ended the celebration with songs, chants and expressions of confidence in Senator Karimi’s re-election bid.
