Residents of Kabawa in Lokoja Local Government Area have commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate, Hon. Abdulrahman Hussaini, popularly known as Gentle, for sponsoring the evacuation of blocked drainages along Kabawa Street.
The drainage clearance exercise was carried out to restore the free flow of water, improve environmental sanitation and prevent flooding, especially during the peak of the rainy season.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Abdulrahman Gentle said the intervention was part of his commitment to the welfare of the people and the development of Lokoja.
He urged residents to support efforts aimed at keeping the environment clean by avoiding indiscriminate dumping of refuse into drainages.
A resident of the area, Abdulrahman Sulaiman, who spoke with NationalWatch TV, praised Hon. Gentle for the timely intervention, describing it as a demonstration of responsive and people-oriented leadership.
According to him, if the blocked drainages had not been evacuated, the road would have become impassable within a few weeks, making it difficult for vehicles to access the area.
He noted that the road is the only major route linking the International Market with the Abuja Expressway, stressing that the intervention had brought relief to motorists, traders and residents.
Sulaiman added that the project had further endeared the APC to the people of Lokoja, saying the party had won the hearts of many residents through practical community-based initiatives.
He also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for considering Hon. Abdulrahman Gentle for the Lokoja Local Government chairmanship position, expressing confidence that his emergence would bring more developmental projects and quality leadership to the council area.
Several residents who witnessed the exercise also applauded Hon. Gentle for responding to a long-standing environmental challenge, urging other political leaders to emulate his commitment to grassroots development and public service.
