The Chief Imam of Isah Kutepa Central Mosque, Sheikh Yahya Abubilat, has concluded the 1447 Ramadan Tafsir in Lokoja, calling on Muslims to continually pray for their leaders to foster peace, unity, and national development.

The closing ceremony, held on Tuesday at Isah Kutepa Central Mosque, drew a large gathering of faithful, community leaders, and government officials.

In his final sermon, Sheikh Abubilat emphasized that good leadership and national progress are closely tied to the prayers and support of the people.

He urged Muslims to carry forward the lessons of Ramadan—patience, charity, and discipline—into their daily lives.

Noting that this year marks the eleventh edition of the annual Tafsir, the cleric expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the programme’s consistency and growth over the years.

The event was chaired by Hon. Isa Umar, former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly representing Lokoja I State Constituency.

In a brief address, he said:
“We give thanks to Almighty Allah for allowing us to witness the 11th edition of this Tafsir. It is a time for reflection, spiritual growth, and appreciation of the teachings of the Qur’an. We pray for the scholars guiding us and for the continued unity and prosperity of our community.”

The Maigari of Lokoja was represented by Alhaji Ahmed Isah Nasidi, the Hakimi of Ward ‘D’, who commended the organizers and conveyed the monarch’s goodwill, urging the community to promote peace and unity.

Among the dignitaries present were Justice Umar Etsu, alongside traditional title holders, Hakimis, Islamic scholars, and top government officials.

The ceremony’s highlight was the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, which added solemnity and spiritual depth to the occasion.

Speakers emphasized the significance of the Tafsir as a vital platform for religious enlightenment and community engagement, urging sustained support for Islamic teachings and institutions that foster moral discipline, especially among youth.

Special prayers were offered for the peace and stability of Kogi State and Nigeria, seeking divine guidance and wisdom for leaders at all levels.

The annual Tafsir continues to serve as a key religious activity in Lokoja, deepening Muslims’ understanding of the Qur’an, strengthening faith, and reinforcing communal harmony.
