The Chief Imam of Isah Kutepa Central Mosque in Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammad Yahya Abubilat, has concluded the 1447 Ramadan Tafsir at the palace of the Maigari of Lokoja, with a call for moral uprightness and sustained prayers for peace and development.
The ceremony, held at the royal palace, attracted Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, and Muslim faithful from within and outside Kogi State, marking a significant spiritual gathering.
The Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, and other clerics led prayers for the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, as well as for peace, unity, and progress in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
He also advised youths to shun social vices, urging them to embrace discipline, good character, and the fear of Allah as essential values for building a better future.
In his sermon, Sheikh Abubilat emphasized the need for Muslims to sustain the lessons of Ramadan, including patience, charity, and devotion to Allah.
He noted that the end of the holy month should not signal a return to wrongdoing.
The cleric further called on leaders at all levels to govern with justice and fairness, stressing that good leadership remains key to national unity and sustainable development.
Abubakar Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the Hakimi of Ward âCâ, who represented the Maigari of Lokoja, commended Sheikh Muhammad Yahya Abubilat for sustaining the annual Ramadan Tafsir, describing it as a vital platform for spiritual growth and moral guidance.
He admonished Muslims to adhere strictly to the teachings of Islam as emphasized during the holy month, urging them to sustain acts of righteousness, unity, and compassion beyond Ramadan.
Earlier in the evening, Sheikh Abubilat had concluded the Ramadan Tafsir at Isah Kutepa Central Mosque before proceeding to the Maigariâs palace for the final session of the day.
He also highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence among residents of Lokoja, urging people of diverse backgrounds to live together in harmony and mutual respect.
Sheikh Abubilat commended the Maigari for his continued support for religious activities, noting that such efforts significantly contribute to the moral and spiritual growth of the community.
Other scholars at the gathering echoed similar sentiments, calling on Muslims to remain steadfast in their faith and to continue acts of charity and kindness beyond Ramadan.
Special prayers were offered for unity among Nigerians, economic stability, and improved security across the country, with clerics emphasizing the need for collective efforts in addressing societal challenges.
The event featured Qurâanic recitations, supplications, and goodwill messages from dignitaries, marking a spiritually uplifting conclusion of the Ramadan Tafsir at the Maigariâs palace in Lokoja.
