The Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State on Saturday held a major stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja, bringing together party leaders, women groups, youths, and supporters to deliberate on the future of the party and strategies ahead of forthcoming elections.
The meeting, which took place at Reverton Hotel, attracted key political figures from across the three senatorial districts of the state, as members reaffirmed their commitment to unity and rebuilding the party structure at all levels.
Addressing the gathering, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan warned against any attempt to rig elections in the state, insisting that the era of imposing leaders against the will of the people must come to an end.
She said democracy can only thrive when votes count and citizens are allowed to freely choose their representatives.
She urged security agencies, the electoral body, and relevant stakeholders to ensure transparency in future elections, stressing that the people of Kogi State deserve credible and peaceful electoral processes.
According to her, any attempt to subvert the mandate of the people would be challenged through lawful and democratic means.
The senator also called on party members to remain steadfast, united, and committed to grassroots mobilization.
She noted that the strength of the Peoples Democratic Party lies in its supporters and urged members not to be discouraged by past setbacks.
Other speakers at the meeting commended party faithful for standing firm despite challenges, describing the gathering as a clear sign that the party remains strong and formidable in Kogi State politics.
They emphasized reconciliation, discipline, and collective responsibility as key factors needed for victory in future elections.
Youth leaders at the meeting pledged to intensify voter awareness campaigns and mobilize first-time voters across communities, while women leaders promised to strengthen participation at the ward and local government levels.
The meeting ended with a vote of confidence on the party leadership and a renewed resolve by members to work together in reclaiming political mandates through the ballot box.
Observers described the gathering as a significant step toward repositioning the party in the state.
