A young woman, Christiana Ogirima, has embraced Islam and adopted a new name, Zainab Ogirima, following a conversion ceremony held on Friday at the Ja’amatu Nasril Islam (JNI) Mosque in Lokoja.
The conversion rites were conducted by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Justice Usman Thohid, who guided the new convert through the process in the presence of Muslim faithful and well-wishers.
Zainab Ogirima was presented for the ceremony by the Chairperson of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Hajiya Falilat Abdulrazak.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included the JNI State Chairman, Ambassador Usman Bello, and the Secretary, Alhaji Isah Adegboye, alongside other Islamic clerics who offered prayers and words of encouragement.
In her remarks shortly after the ceremony, Hajiya Abdulrazak thanked members of the JNI for their warm reception and acceptance of the new convert, noting that such gestures promote unity and peaceful coexistence.
In his remarks, Alhaji Isah Adegboye welcomed Zainab Ogirima into the Muslim community and urged her to remain steadfast in her new faith, emphasizing the importance of learning and adherence to Islamic teachings.
She also advised the new convert to remain committed, stressing the importance of patience, learning, and devotion in her spiritual journey.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Usman Bello welcomed the new convert into the Muslim community and assured her of continuous guidance and support from the JNI.
Prayers were offered by clerics for her steadfastness, protection, and success as she begins a new chapter in her religious life.
Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of gifts to Zainab Ogirima by JNI and FOMWAN, symbolizing support and solidarity from the Muslim community.
