Nigerian security forces, in a joint operation with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have recorded a major victory against bandit terrorists in the Gummi axis of Zamfara State, neutralizing several criminals and recovering a significant number of stolen cattle.

Sources within the area disclosed that the operation was carried out following actionable intelligence on the activities of armed bandit groups terrorizing communities in and around Gummi Local Government Area.

The troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee with heavy casualties.

The successful operation led to the recovery of numerous cattle believed to have been rustled from local farmers and herders during previous attacks.

Residents of Gummi were seen celebrating the development, hailing the bravery and determination of the Nigerian military and CJTF operatives.

Many described the operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry and cattle rustling that have plagued the area for years.

Community leaders commended the security personnel for their swift response, noting that the operation has boosted public confidence and renewed hope for lasting peace in the region.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said the people were relieved by the outcome of the operation, stressing that the recovered cattle would bring much-needed relief to affected families.

Security authorities have reiterated their commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.

They also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.

The latest success underscores ongoing efforts by Nigerian troops and local security volunteers to dismantle bandit networks and restore normalcy to communities affected by insecurity.
