Fresh communal violence has reportedly erupted in parts of Adamawa State following clashes involving members of the Bachama and Chobo communities, raising concerns over security and the safety of residents in the affected areas.
Sources said the renewed hostilities followed a period of heightened tension during which threatening videos allegedly circulated on social media, with individuals from the rival communities exchanging accusations and warnings.
Residents reported attacks on several communities, resulting in the destruction of homes and property, while many families were said to have fled to safer locations.
The exact number of casualties could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
Community leaders from both sides have traded blame over the violence, with each accusing the other of initiating the attacks.
However, security agencies have yet to publicly confirm the circumstances surrounding the clashes.
The latest violence has sparked concern among residents and observers, many of whom are calling for urgent intervention by the Adamawa State Government and federal security authorities to prevent further escalation.
Some residents expressed frustration over the recurring nature of communal conflicts in the area, urging authorities to strengthen security measures, investigate those responsible for the violence, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
