There was jubilation on Friday as the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, endorsed Sunday Karimi as the consensus candidate of the party for Kogi West.
The endorsement took place during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Lokoja, where party leaders, supporters, and political associates gathered in large numbers to show solidarity with the senator.
The atmosphere at the venue was filled with excitement as supporters of Senator Karimi broke into songs and dances shortly after the announcement of his endorsement.
Many party faithful described the development as a major step towards unity and continuity within the APC in Kogi West.
In his appreciation speech, Senator Karimi thanked Governor Ododo, APC stakeholders, and supporters across Kogi West for the confidence reposed in him.
He called on his supporters to remain peaceful, united, and committed to the progress of the party, urging them to avoid statements or actions capable of causing division within the APC.
Karimi also assured party members that he would continue to provide quality representation and attract more democratic dividends to the people of Kogi West Senatorial District.
Also present at the event was the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Abubakar Bashir Gegu, who joined the gathering alongside his supporters in solidarity with Senator Karimi.
The meeting ended with widespread celebrations as supporters continued dancing and chanting slogans in support of the APC and Senator Karimi.
