Residents of Adankolo Junction in Lokoja have called on relevant authorities to urgently evacuate the corpse of an unidentified man found lying at the busy junction since yesterday.
According to a source who spoke to National Watch TV, the unidentified man reportedly arrived at the area around 12 noon on Thursday in a distressed condition, vomiting repeatedly before suddenly collapsing and dying on the spot.
The source disclosed that efforts to identify the deceased have so far proved unsuccessful, as no one in the area has been able to confirm his identity or where he came from.
The incident has sparked concern among residents and commuters, many of whom expressed fears over possible health risks and the emotional trauma caused by the sight of the unattended corpse in a public place.
Some traders and motorists operating around the junction lamented that the delay in evacuating the corpse has continued to attract large crowds and disrupt normal activities in the area.
Some residents who spoke to National Watch TV appealed to the Kogi State Government, health officials, emergency responders, and security agencies to urgently intervene by evacuating the corpse and investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death.
âWe have been expecting officials to come and remove the body since yesterday. This is a major junction in Lokoja and people pass here every minute,â one of the residents said.
Another eyewitness disclosed that some good Samaritans initially attempted to assist the deceased when he suddenly became weak and collapsed, but he eventually died before help could arrive.
The residents also urged authorities to help identify the deceased and locate his relatives for proper burial arrangements.
As of the time of filing this report, the corpse was still lying at the junction while residents awaited government intervention.
