The family of late Abdulmumin Bala Alabi, a retired ship captain with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has held a Fidau prayer session in his honour, with family members, relatives, friends and well-wishers gathering to pray for the repose of his soul and the strength of the bereaved family.
The prayer session was held on Thursday at the family residence on Karaworo Street, Lokoja, Kogi State.
The Fidau prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, who offered special prayers for the deceased and the family he left behind.
In his remarks, Sheikh Shaban urged the family, relatives and loved ones to remain steadfast in faith and continue to pray for the deceased, stressing that death is an inevitable journey that every human being must undertake.
He reminded the gathering of the importance of living a righteous life and preparing for the hereafter, urging Muslims to see the death of a loved one as a reminder of the temporary nature of life.
The Chief Imam prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of late Abdulmumin Bala Alabi, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed for Allah to grant the bereaved family patience, strength and comfort, and to guide and protect all those he left behind.
Family members, relatives, friends and well-wishers who attended the Fidau joined in prayers for the deceased, creating a solemn atmosphere as they remembered his life and prayed for his peaceful repose.
Family friends also offered prayers for late Abdulmumin Bala Alabi, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
They equally prayed for the bereaved family, asking Allah to give them the courage, patience and fortitude to bear the loss.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Adamu Ahmed Alabi, a retired Permanent Secretary and younger brother of the deceased, expressed appreciation to everyone who attended the Fidau prayer.
He thanked family members, relatives, friends and well-wishers for standing by the family during the difficult period, particularly for their prayers, presence and various forms of support.
Adamu said the presence and show of love from those who attended the prayer had provided comfort to the family and demonstrated the strong bonds of friendship and family ties surrounding the deceased.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would reward everyone who had supported the family and grant them blessings for their kindness and prayers.
The family also expressed appreciation to those who had continued to sympathise with them and offer support following the passing of their loved one.
They prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive late Abdulmumin Bala Alabi’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds, grant him eternal rest and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.
