The proprietor of JB Hotel in Lokoja, Hon. Julius Abiodun Arojojoye, popularly called JB, has organised a special Fidau prayer for the late former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, in Lokoja.
The prayer session, which attracted several dignitaries, political leaders, traditional rulers, friends and associates of the late former governor, was held to pray for the repose of his soul and honour his memory.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, who offered prayers for the repose of the late former governor and asked Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
Sheikh Shaban commended Hon. Julius Abiodun Arojojoye, popularly called JB, for organising the special prayer, describing the gesture as a worthy way of remembering the deceased and praying for his soul.
In his opening remarks, the organiser, Hon. Julius Abiodun Arojojoye, popularly called JB, said the Fidau was organised in appreciation of the late Ibrahim Idris and his kindness to people during his tenure as governor of Kogi State.
Arojojoye, who quoted the saying that âto whom much is given, much is expected,â said the late former governor was a caring leader who touched the lives of many people during his administration.
He explained that his decision to organise the special prayer was borne out of the need to continue to remember and pray for the deceased.
Arojojoye expressed appreciation to the dignitaries, traditional rulers, political leaders, friends and well-wishers who attended the occasion, praying that Allah would reward them abundantly.
In his goodwill message, the Oba of Yoruba in Kogi State, Oba Bello Audu Oke, popularly known as Owoniboy, prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Ibrahim Idris.
The monarch commended JB for remembering the former governor through the special Fidau prayer, describing the gesture as commendable.
Oba Bello Audu Oke called on other well-meaning and spirited individuals to emulate JB by remembering the departed through prayers and other worthy acts.
Also speaking, one of the organisers of the special prayer, Hon. Abdulkadir Ibrahim, thanked all the dignitaries and guests who came to honour the invitation and participate in the prayer.
Hon. Ibrahim, who is also the PDP candidate for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, prayed for the family of the late Ibrahim Idris, asking Allah to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
He also prayed for Allah’s continued guidance, protection and blessings upon the family and all those who came to honour the memory of the former governor.
The event ended with special prayers for the repose of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris and for peace, unity and prosperity in Kogi State.
