The people of Bunu District in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term, as well as Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, for another term in the 2027 general election.
The endorsement was made on Saturday at a well-attended rally held at the Open Field of Community Primary School, Odo-Ape, headquarters of Bunu District. The district comprises six of the 15 wards in Kabba/Bunu LGA — Akutupa-Kiri, Aiyetoro-Kiri (Aiyetoro Gbede), Iluke, Olle/Oke-Offin, Oke-Bukun and Odo-Ape.
The people hinged their decision on what they described as effective leadership, quality representation and visible dividends of democracy under the Tinubu administration and Senator Karimi’s representation.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, charged Bunu people to mobilise massively for President Tinubu and Senator Karimi in 2027.
Meseko, a proud son of Bunu, said the district and Kogi West had benefited from the Renewed Hope administration in infrastructure, economic reforms, student loans and social interventions.
He said President Tinubu’s reforms, though challenging, were beginning to yield positive results through improved foreign reserves, economic stabilisation, attraction of investments and renewed confidence in the Nigerian economy.
He also urged the people to stand firmly with Senator Karimi, saying his representation had changed the narrative of legislative representation in Kogi West and deserved another term for consolidation.
Speaking through his representative, Hon. Folorunsho Braimoh, Meseko assured that Bunu District would surpass its previous voting figures and deliver massive votes for the APC in 2027.
Senator Karimi, in his remarks, thanked the people of Bunu for the endorsement and listed some of his interventions since assuming office in 2023 to include educational support for over 200 students, women empowerment through cooperative societies and grants, solar-powered boreholes across the six wards, reconstruction of the long-abandoned Pakuta Bridge, renovation of schools, provision of transformers, youth employment opportunities, as well as distribution of palliatives and farm inputs.
He also highlighted some achievements of the Tinubu administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy, introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, clearance of foreign exchange backlogs, major road projects, increased allocations to states and local governments, agricultural interventions and efforts to tackle insecurity.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the occasion, Senator Karimi commended President Tinubu for what he described as bold steps towards repositioning the Nigerian economy and improving the lives of Nigerians.
He said the Renewed Hope agenda had brought interventions in infrastructure, education, agriculture, economic reforms and social development.
Earlier, the Chairman of Bunu District, Pastor Obayomi Lawrence, commended Senator Karimi for what he described as unprecedented interventions in the district, including the student support programme, women empowerment, boreholes, Pakuta Bridge, school renovations and transformers.
He assured that Bunu people would give President Tinubu and Senator Karimi massive votes in 2027.
In their separate goodwill messages, Dr. Ola Elijah Olorunshua, Comrade Bayo Oyenibi Owojola and Hon. Esther Balogun also commended Senator Karimi for his interventions and quality representation, assuring that Bunu District would give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Karimi massive votes in the forthcoming election.
The endorsement was formally moved by the member representing Kabba/Bunu State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Seyi Bello. The motion for the endorsement of President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima and Senator Karimi for another term was unanimously adopted through a voice vote.
A major highlight of the rally was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Senator Sunday Karimi for what the organisers described as “unequal representation” of Kogi West in the National Assembly.
