Former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has been buried at the Gudu Muslim Cemetery in Abuja amid tears and emotional tributes from family members, political associates, friends, and well-wishers.
The late former governor was laid to rest today in accordance with Islamic rites, as mourners gathered to pay their final respects to the former leader who served as governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2012.
The burial ceremony attracted prominent dignitaries, including former Kogi State governors Alhaji Idris Wada and Alhaji Yahaya Bello, as well as the incumbent governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo. Other top politicians, government officials, and public figures also attended the funeral to honour the former governor.
The atmosphere at the Gudu Muslim Cemetery was solemn as family members, political associates, and sympathisers expressed grief over the passing of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris. Many offered prayers for the repose of his soul while reflecting on his contributions to the development and political history of Kogi State.
Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, who governed Kogi State for two terms, remained a prominent figure in the stateâs political affairs after leaving office. His burial marked the final farewell to a leader whose career attracted recognition and support from various communities and political stakeholders.
