President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria on its formal admission as the newest National Member Committee of the World Energy Council, describing the development as a major boost to the country’s global energy profile.
Tinubu also congratulated the inaugural board of the WEC Nigeria, led by its Chairman, Abdulrazaq Isa KUTEPA, and Vice Chairman, Bala Wunti.
The President, in a statement, said Nigeria’s membership of the World Energy Council would provide a strategic platform for the country to strengthen its participation in global discussions on energy security, sustainability, investment and transition.
He said the development came at a critical time when the Federal Government was implementing reforms aimed at transforming Nigeria’s energy sector and creating an enabling environment for investment.
Tinubu expressed confidence in the ability of the new WEC Nigeria leadership to deploy its experience and expertise towards advancing the nation’s energy interests and contributing to global efforts to build a sustainable and resilient energy future.
He urged the board to collaborate with government agencies, private-sector players and international partners to unlock Nigeria’s vast energy potential and promote initiatives that would improve energy access and security.
The President assured the new WEC Nigeria leadership of the Federal Government’s support as it begins its mandate, stressing the importance of stronger partnerships in driving sustainable development in Nigeria’s energy sector.
The World Energy Council is a global energy network that brings together leaders and stakeholders to promote sustainable energy systems and facilitate international dialogue on the future of energy.
