The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulkadir Ibrahim, has expressed sadness over the death of 12 people in a recent clash involving vigilante groups in Kupa community, Kogi State.
Ibrahim, in a condolence message made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday, described the incident as tragic and unfortunate, saying the loss of lives had brought grief to the families of the victims and the entire community.
He commiserated with the bereaved families and the people of Kupa, praying that God would grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the painful loss.
The PDP candidate appealed to residents of the community to remain calm and avoid actions capable of escalating tension or triggering further violence.
He urged community leaders, security agencies and other stakeholders to work together to restore peace and confidence among residents.
Ibrahim also called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the clash, urging that anyone found culpable should be made to face the law.
He stressed the importance of dialogue, tolerance and peaceful resolution of disputes, noting that the protection of lives and property should remain a collective responsibility.
The candidate expressed solidarity with the people of Kupa during the difficult period and prayed for the repose of the souls of the 12 victims.
He also prayed for the speedy restoration of peace and normalcy in the community.
