Primate Theophilus Olobayo of the Evangelical Church of Yahweh and Hon. Sunday Osiako, the APC chairmanship candidate for Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area, on Saturday joined family members, friends, sympathisers and other dignitaries at the funeral service of the late Dr. Segun Nezar Keyi in Ogori.
The burial drew top government officials, politicians, traditional rulers, Christian clerics, business leaders, community stakeholders, associates and well-wishers, who gathered to honour the memory of the deceased and celebrate his life of service to humanity.
The funeral service was held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Ogori, Diocese of Ogori/Magongo, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, before the remains of Dr. Keyi were interred at the Ogori Christian Cemetery.
The service was officiated by Venerable Paul Usman, Sub-Dean of the Cathedral of St. Peter, who urged Christians to live lives marked by faith, humility and selfless service.
He said a worthy legacy is measured not by wealth or status, but by one’s impact on humanity and devotion to God.
Dr. Segun Nezar Keyi, who died on March 27, 2026, was laid to rest at exactly 1:21 p.m. amid prayers and tributes from family members, friends and well-wishers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Primate Olobayo said the late Dr. Keyi made good use of every opportunity he had to serve the people meritoriously, adding that although he achieved much in his lifetime, his full potential was yet to be realised before his passing.
“He served his people diligently and left behind a legacy worthy of emulation. His contributions to society will continue to be remembered,” the Primate said.
In a touching tribute, Dr. Keyi’s former secondary school classmates presented a posthumous award to his children in recognition of his exemplary life, achievements and lasting impact on his classmates and the community.
Delivering an appreciation message on behalf of the family, Dr. Mathew Dada Keyi expressed gratitude to ministers of God, relatives, friends and well-wishers for their prayers, support, presence and gifts, which he said contributed to the success of the burial ceremony.
“The entire family of the late Dr. Segun Nezar Keyi humbly expresses our profound gratitude to everyone who stood by us during this difficult period. Your prayers, presence and support made the burial ceremony a huge success. May the Almighty God bless you abundantly, honour you and grant everyone journey mercies to your various destinations. Amen.”
