The Lokoja branch of the National Council of Muslim Youths Organizations (NACOMYO) on Saturday held its 5th Annual Islamic Youth Summit, with participants offering prayers for peace, unity, and development in Nigeria.
The event, which took place at Majesty International College, Lokongoma, Lokoja, attracted Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, government officials, youth leaders, and other stakeholders from across Kogi State.
In his keynote address, the Kogi State Chairman of NACOMYO, Ustaz Sulaiman Dansoho, commended the Lokoja branch for sustaining the annual summit over the years, describing the initiative as a platform for mentoring young Muslims and promoting moral values.
He urged other NACOMYO branches across the state to emulate the Lokoja chapter by organizing similar programmes aimed at empowering youths spiritually and intellectually.
Dansoho also prayed for lasting peace in Nigeria and called on Muslim youths to shun social vices and embrace responsible conduct.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman of NACOMYO Lokoja Branch, Malam Muhammed Taha, called on young people to rise above tribal and ethnic sentiments, reject violence and extremism, and dedicate themselves to serving humanity.
He expressed appreciation to individuals and organizations that contributed to the success of the summit, noting that collective efforts were necessary to build a better society.
The Chairman of the occasion, HRH Alhaji Khalid Ali Bukar, the Ohegba of Mozum, commended the organizers for their commitment to youth development and Islamic education. He urged youths to stay away from social vices and appealed to wealthy individuals and philanthropists to support the activities of the association.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom, Engr. Dr. Faruk Muhammad Kakanda, the Grand Khadi of Kogi State, Hon. Justice Abdulkareem Aikoye, the Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Ambassador Usman Bello, Islamic scholars, clerics, and top government officials.
Highlights of the summit included recitation of the Holy Qur’an, presentation of awards to deserving individuals, and lectures focused on youth development, peacebuilding, and Islamic values.
Participants at the summit also offered special prayers for peace, security, and national progress, while reaffirming their commitment to promoting unity and moral excellence among Nigerian youths.
