Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has called out the Kogi State Accountant General over the alleged unlawful detention of a supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sowore, in a statement posted on his social media platforms, condemned the detention, describing it as a violation of the individual’s fundamental human rights.
He demanded the immediate release of the detainee, insisting that no citizen should be held without due process of law.
He warned that actions perceived as politically motivated could heighten tensions within the state and erode public confidence in government institutions.
The activist also urged security agencies to act professionally and within the confines of the law.
Sowore further called on the Kogi State Government to clarify the circumstances surrounding the arrest and continued detention, stressing the need for transparency and accountability.
As of the time of filing this report, officials of the Kogi State Government had yet to respond to the allegations.
The development has continued to spark reactions online, with concerned citizens and rights advocates calling for respect for civil liberties and adherence to the rule of law.
