Former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward David Onoja, has congratulated the people of Offa Community in Olamaboro Local Government Area on the successful commissioning of the Federal Government’s 700-kilowatt mini-grid power project aimed at expanding access to electricity and promoting socio-economic development.
Speaking at the official commissioning ceremony, Chief Onoja described the project as a significant intervention by the Federal Government to address power challenges in rural communities and improve the living conditions of residents.
He noted that reliable electricity remains a key driver of economic growth, stressing that the mini-grid project would support businesses, improve healthcare delivery, enhance educational activities, and create opportunities for local economic development.
Chief Onoja commended the Federal Government for extending the project to Offa Community and praised all agencies, partners, and stakeholders involved in its implementation.
He said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the welfare of rural populations.
The former deputy governor urged residents to take ownership of the facility by protecting and maintaining it to ensure its sustainability and continued benefits for future generations.
According to him, the project will not only provide clean and reliable electricity to homes and businesses but also attract investment and accelerate development in Offa and surrounding communities.
“Today is a memorable day for the people of Offa Community. This project is a testament to the Federal Government’s commitment to rural development and improved access to electricity. I congratulate the community on this achievement and encourage everyone to support its sustainability,” Onoja said.
The 700KW mini-grid power project is expected to provide steady electricity supply to homes, schools, healthcare facilities, and businesses, thereby boosting productivity and improving the quality of life of residents.
Community members and dignitaries at the event described the project as a transformative intervention that will contribute significantly to the growth and development of Offa Community and its environs.
