A heavy downpour has reportedly caused significant damage to sections of the newly constructed Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja, raising fresh concerns among residents and commuters.
Eyewitnesses said the rainfall, which occurred earlier today, led to structural defects within parts of the terminal, with flooding and possible damage to some facilities disrupting movement around the area.
The terminal, one of the major transport infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory, is part of efforts to improve urban mobility and ease traffic congestion within the nationâs capital.
While reactions have continued to trail the development, some residents have cautioned against politicizing the incident.
They noted that although opinions may differ about the leadership style of the FCT Minister, the project remains a public asset designed for the benefit of all.
âIn as much as many people may not like the ministerâs approach, he has executed several projects in Abuja. If this one failed, it is not something anyone should be happy about,â a commuter said.
Observers have called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the damage, particularly focusing on construction quality, drainage systems, and the impact of heavy rainfall.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement as residents await urgent intervention and repairs to restore the facility.
