The Hausa community in Obajana has expressed strong support for the appointment and planned coronation of Alhaji Hamisu Isah Dan Hajiya as the Asiwaju of Hausa in Oworo Kingdom by the Olu of Oworo, HRH Malama Muhammed Baiyerohi.
The community made its position known during interviews with various Hausa groups in Obajana, dismissing claims by some individuals that there would be no peace if Dan Hajiya is eventually coronated.
Members of the Hausa community described Alhaji Hamisu Isah Dan Hajiya as a respected and experienced leader who has contributed significantly to the unity and welfare of the Hausa people in Obajana.
They noted that Dan Hajiya has served as Chairman of the Hausa Community in Obajana for decades, stressing that his long years of leadership have earned him the respect and confidence of the people.
The groups said they were therefore surprised by claims that his planned coronation as Asiwaju of Hausa in Oworo Kingdom could lead to crisis or threaten peaceful coexistence.
According to them, the appointment by HRH Malama Muhammed Baiyerohi, the Olu of Oworo, is a recognition of Dan Hajiya’s leadership qualities, experience and contributions to the Hausa community.
They also recalled that Dan Hajiya was at one time appointed by Oba Idowu Isenibi, the Bajana of Obajana, as the Olododo (Thoughtful Person) of Obajana, describing the development as further evidence of the confidence traditional authorities have reposed in his leadership.
The Hausa community urged those making claims that the coronation would cause unrest to desist from creating unnecessary tension, insisting that Dan Hajiya is a man committed to peace and unity.
Speaking on the development, Alhaji Hamisu Isah Dan Hajiya thanked the Olu of Oworo, HRH Malama Muhammed Baiyerohi, for considering him worthy of the title of Asiwaju of Hausa in Oworo Kingdom.
Dan Hajiya expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, assuring the traditional ruler and the people of Oworo Kingdom that he would not let the kingdom down.
He pledged to use the position to promote peace, unity and peaceful coexistence among the Hausa community and other residents across the kingdom.
He also cautioned members of the Hausa community to remain law-abiding and respectful of constituted authorities, urging them to avoid actions capable of causing tension or disrupting the peace of the kingdom.
Dan Hajiya called on his members to support the traditional institution and work together with other communities to sustain peace and development in Oworo Kingdom.
The community appealed to the people of Obajana, members of the Hausa community and other stakeholders in Oworo Kingdom to support the appointment and allow the planned coronation to take place peacefully.
The groups expressed confidence that Dan Hajiya, if coronated, would use the position to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and the welfare of the Hausa community across Oworo Kingdom.
They reaffirmed their support for HRH Malama Muhammed Baiyerohi, the Olu of Oworo, and his decision, saying the appointment should be viewed as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the traditional institution and the Hausa community.
