The Kogi State branch of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) on Wednesday organized a special prayer session for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and a peaceful campaign ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The prayer, which brought together leaders and members of various Islamic organizations across the state, was held at the JNI Central Juma’at Mosque in Lokoja.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Kogi State JNI, Ambassador Usman Bello, appreciated the large turnout of Islamic scholars, clerics and faithful who attended the programme.
He said the special prayer was convened to seek Allah’s guidance, protection and continued blessings for Governor Ododo, as well as to pray for peaceful, credible and violence-free electioneering campaigns across the state.
The opening prayer was led by Sheikh Kasim Imam, who offered fervent supplications for peace, unity, progress and sustainable development in Kogi State.
Speaking on the significance of the gathering, Ustaz Ibrahim Yusuf Abdallah Inyass stressed that prayer remains an essential tool for the success of any society.
He noted that as the state prepares for another election season, it is important for citizens to continually seek divine intervention for peaceful coexistence and successful democratic processes.
The highlight of the event was a special prayer session led by the Chief Imam of Kutepa Juma’at Mosque, Sheikh Muhammad Yahya Abubilat, alongside other prominent Islamic scholars.
The clerics offered prayers for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, asking Allah to grant him wisdom, good health, divine guidance and success in his leadership, while also praying for peaceful campaigns and a hitch-free electoral process in Kogi State.
The gathering ended with prayers for Nigeria’s unity, security and prosperity, with participants expressing optimism that peace and harmony would prevail throughout the election period.
