The Kogi Diaspora Community has declared its support for the governorship aspiration of Hon. James Abiodun Faleke ahead of the 2027 Kogi State governorship election, while calling for the rotation of political power to Kogi West Senatorial District in the interest of equity and fairness.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Kogi Diaspora Community, Hon. Seyi Olorunsola, the group said its decision followed extensive consultations with members across the world and within Nigeria.

According to the statement, the diaspora body is convinced that Faleke possesses the experience, competence, integrity and leadership qualities required to move Kogi State to greater heights.

The group maintained that after years of political arrangements in the state, it is only fair for the governorship seat to be zoned to Kogi West, describing the move as a step toward promoting justice, inclusiveness and political balance.

It also pledged to mobilise financial, moral and intellectual support for Faleke’s governorship ambition, promising to work towards his success at both the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election and the 2027 governorship poll.

Olorunsola noted that members of the Kogi Diaspora Community have consistently contributed to the state’s development through investments, entrepreneurship, remittances and community development initiatives, adding that they are ready to provide further economic backing for Faleke’s aspiration.

The group urged political leaders and stakeholders across the state to embrace the principle of power rotation, insisting that allowing Kogi West to produce the next governor would strengthen unity and deepen democratic values in the state.

The statement also congratulated the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, on his victory at the APC senatorial primary election.

The diaspora community commended Karimi for what it described as his dedication, commitment and service to the people of Kogi State, praying for greater wisdom and strength as he continues to represent his constituents.

Reaffirming its commitment to the progress of Kogi State, the group called on all Kogites, irrespective of political, ethnic or religious affiliation, to support the quest for a governor from Kogi West, saying such a move would promote justice, equity and sustainable development.

The group expressed confidence that with collective support and unity, Kogi State would witness greater prosperity under inclusive leadership.
