Kaduna metropolis was agog on Saturday as Aliyu Kasim, son of Alhaji Muhammad Kasim Mabo, and Ramatu Yusuf Sani, daughter of Alhaji Yusuf Sani, were joined in holy matrimony at the Al-Misry Mosque, Abakpa, Kaduna.
The marriage contract was solemnised following the payment of a bride price of ₦350,000.
The groom was represented by Alhaji Idris Abdulrahman, Waziri of Lokoja and his uncle, while Alhaji Ahmed Usman stood in for the bride.
Officiating at the ceremony, Sheikh Usman Abubakar, Chief Imam of the Al-Misry Central Mosque, admonished the couple to fear God, remain faithful to one another and build their home on the foundations of peace, love and mutual understanding.
He reminded them that they would be accountable for their deeds before God in the hereafter.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were Alhaji Idris Abdulrahman, representative of the Maigari of Lokoja and Waziri of Lokoja; Professor Abdullahi Audu Sabo Muhammad, Vice-Chancellor of the Franco-British International University, Kaduna; Alhaji Gambo Aliyu, Director of Administration of Lokoja Local Government Area; alongside traditional title holders, senior government officials, politicians and Islamic clerics.
In their separate remarks, the dignitaries offered prayers for the newlyweds and urged them to uphold the virtues of love, fidelity and mutual respect.
They also prayed for peace, unity and continued progress in Nigeria.
Family members and friends described the union as a joyous occasion that further strengthened the longstanding bond between the two families and expressed confidence that the marriage would flourish in an atmosphere of understanding and shared values.
Shortly after the wedding fatiha, dignitaries, family members and other guests were hosted to a reception at Asaa Pyramid Hotel, where the celebration continued with goodwill messages, felicitations and prayers for the success of the couple’s new home.
The groom, Aliyu Kasim, expressed heartfelt appreciation to family members, friends and well-wishers for honouring the occasion with their presence and support.
In his vote of thanks, the groom’s father, Alhaji Muhammad Kasim Mabo, the Shetima of Lokoja and Secretary of the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission, expressed appreciation to all guests for gracing the occasion and prayed for God’s guidance, blessings and a fruitful union for the newlyweds.
He also wished the guests a safe journey to their respective destinations.
