A video purportedly showing the late Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Suleiman Tasiu, making strong remarks about the security situation in the state has surfaced online following his killing.
In the viral footage, which has not been independently verified, Tasiu is alleged to have criticized the handling of insecurity in Benue State and issued remarks directed at government officials and security agencies.
Authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the video or when it was recorded.
The emergence of the video comes as the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the arrest of 10 suspects in connection with the killing.
Police said investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the murder and ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.
Security agencies have not indicated whether the circulating video is linked to the killing or forms part of the ongoing investigation.
The incident has heightened concerns over the worsening security situation in Benue State, with stakeholders calling for a thorough investigation and swift prosecution of those behind the attack.
Residents have also been urged to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and avoid spreading unverified information capable of escalating tensions.
As of press time, efforts to obtain further official reactions from the Benue State Government, security agencies, and the leadership of MACBAN were ongoing.
