A former aspirant for the Kogi State House of Assembly, Lokoja II State Constituency, Comrade Abdullahi Madami, has collapsed his political structure in support of the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf.
According to a statement issued by Yabagi Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Madami formally announced the decision on Sunday during a strategic meeting held in Lokoja, where he also presented members of his structure to the Speaker.
He said the move was informed by the Speakerâs performance since assuming office, noting that his leadership had âgone beyond expectationsâ in delivering dividends of democracy to his constituency and the state in general.
According to him, the decision to align with the Speaker was part of a broader effort to strengthen the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the next general elections.
âWe have carefully observed the track record of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, and we are convinced that his leadership has brought meaningful development.
This is why we are collapsing our structure to support him and mobilise more people for the success of the APC,â Madami said.
The statement further noted that the Speaker welcomed the development, describing it as a vote of confidence in his leadership and the APC administration in Kogi State.
It added that Comrade Madamiâs decision, alongside his supporters, reflects appreciation of the Speakerâs developmental strides and people-oriented representation.
The Speaker assured stakeholders of continued commitment to effective representation, unity, and inclusive governance, while urging party members to remain steadfast in their support for the APC ahead of future elections.
