The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the absence of some governors and key political figures at the ongoing screening exercise, stating that the National Working Committee (NWC) will handle their cases separately.
Speaking with journalists after the screening session, party officials disclosed that the absence of Siminalayi Fubara, Agbu Kefas, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was noted, but assured party members that the development would not affect the overall process.
According to the party leadership, the APC National Working Committee is expected to engage the affected individuals and determine the next line of action regarding their participation in the exercise.
The party maintained that the screening process was proceeding smoothly and in line with established guidelines, adding that all aspirants and stakeholders would be given fair consideration.
Sources within the party also hinted that consultations were ongoing behind closed doors, with efforts aimed at ensuring unity and stability within the APC ahead of future political engagements.
The APC leadership further called on members to remain calm and focused, assuring that every issue arising from the screening exercise would be resolved through internal party mechanisms.
Party officials emphasized that the screening committee was committed to transparency and fairness, stressing that the absence of some stakeholders should not be interpreted as a crisis within the party.
They noted that the APC remains united and focused on strengthening its internal democratic process.
Meanwhile, some party members present at the venue expressed confidence in the leadership of the APC, stating that the NWC has the experience and capacity to address sensitive political matters without disrupting party activities.
Observers believe the development may be linked to ongoing consultations and strategic political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political actors continue to reposition themselves within their respective states and across the country.
Despite the temporary absence of the affected figures, screening activities continued with other aspirants appearing before the committee to submit required documents and defend their eligibility.
The APC also reiterated its commitment to discipline, inclusiveness, and party unity, assuring supporters that the outcome of the screening exercise would reflect the partyâs resolve to maintain order and credibility in its internal affairs.
