The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Prof. Gbenga Ibileye, has engaged directly with students during a visit to their hostels, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to improving their living conditions and overall welfare.
Addressing the students, Prof. Ibileye said the visit was aimed at listening to them and giving them the opportunity to speak directly to the university administration about their hostel experiences.
He recalled a previous visit where he personally assessed the situation in the hostels, noting that several corrective measures and interventions were introduced afterward.
According to him, the university ensured the provision of high-speed internet connectivity and has returned to evaluate its effectiveness.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that he has remained in contact with many students, some of whom reached out with concerns such as water shortages, power outages, and other challenges.
He noted that in each case, directives were issued for immediate intervention, with feedback indicating prompt action.
Prof. Ibileye emphasized that the university’s efforts are focused on creating a conducive environment for students, stressing that while the hostels may not be luxurious, they are being improved to be clean, safe, and suitable for learning.
He identified access to water, reliable internet connectivity, and adequate security as key priorities essential to supporting students’ academic journey.
The visit, which coincided with the Easter and Good Friday period, also provided an opportunity for the Vice-Chancellor to interact with students despite their academic schedules and further strengthen communication between the university management and the student body.
