Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has addressed residents in a state broadcast following the tragic incident in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives.
Speaking with a heavy heart, the governor extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
He described the incident as painful and unfortunate, noting that the government shares in the grief of affected communities.
Governor Mutfwang assured residents that swift and decisive actions have been taken to restore calm, including strengthened security presence in the area.
He added that efforts are ongoing to track down and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He emphasized that security agencies have been placed on high alert and are working round the clock to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
He warned that anyone found instigating violence or spreading misinformation would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The governor also called on community leaders, youth groups, and religious stakeholders to support government efforts by promoting dialogue and discouraging acts that could escalate tensions.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting victims and their families during this difficult period, stressing that necessary assistance and relief measures will be provided to cushion the impact of the tragedy.
Governor Mutfwang further urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing investigations, assuring that all reports would be treated with confidentiality.
He appealed to citizens across the state to remain calm, vigilant, and united, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in preserving peace, security, and harmony in Plateau State.
