The three-day Fidau Prayer for the late Ismaeel Abdulkarim, the Dan Buram of Lokoja, was held on Saturday at his Fehintolu residence in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The prayer drew prominent national leaders, Islamic scholars, and dignitaries from across the country, led by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, who offered prayers seeking Allah’s forgiveness for the deceased.
At the event were Senator Tunde Ogbeha, Alhaji Sulaiman Baba-Ali, the APC leader in Lokoja-KotonKarfe LGAs, Alhaji Rajab Naibi, the Goshin Haske of Nupe Kindom, Engr. Kilani Hassan, an Abuja based businessman and Lokoja LGA Council Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu, among others.
The event also attracted Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya Danladi Faruq, member representing Lokoja 1 State Constituency, Bin Ebaiya Tijjani Shehu, Alhaji Yabagi Bologi, former Kogi State Commissioner for Commerce.
Also present were traditional leaders included the Chief of Karara, along with kingmakers and Hakimis
In his condolence message, Senator Ogbeha said, “Death is an inevitable destiny that is hanging on everyone’s neck.”
While praying to God to grant the late Abdulkarim’s soul eternal rest, he asked the people to consider themselves as travellers with bags and baggage waiting for the train.
“Abdulkarim’s death wasn’t a loss to the family alone, or the people of Lokoja, it was a national loss,” he said.
The APC leader, Sulaiman Baba-Ali offered prayers for the late leader.
“For we, the people of Lokoja, it is indeed a great loss. We have lost a brother, a guide, who supported us throughout our journey.
“All we have to do today and beyond today, forever, is to continue to pray for his departed soul.
“May Almighty Allah accept all his good deeds, and forgive his wrongdoings”, he said.
In his own remarks, the Dokaji of Lokoja, Engr Kilani Hassan, called on leaders to reflect on Abdulkarim’s death, “so that it may serve as a lesson to fear God in our leadership positions.”
“Ismael Abdulkarim was my childhood friend. We did things together. We never know he will leave us so soon. May Allah grant him aljanat fidaus.
He described the late Abdulkarim as a symbol of humility and accountability, adding that he was a leader par excellence who dedicated his life to serving the community with diligence.
