Grief and sorrow have enveloped Kupa community in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State following the brutal killing of two policemen and a passerby by armed assailants.
The attack, which has left families and residents in shock, saw the gunmen escape with the officers’ rifles after taking their lives in cold blood.
The tragic incident has raised tension in the community, with residents expressing fear and anger over the increasing insecurity.
Many described the slain policemen as dedicated officers who paid the supreme price while protecting lives.
Reacting to the development, Senator Sunday Karimi, who represents Kogi West, expressed deep sadness and condemned the killings as “heartbreaking and barbaric.”
“These policemen died serving their country and safeguarding our people. Their families and the entire community are in pain, and I share in this grief. I urge Kupa residents not to allow anger to push them into taking laws into their hands. The government and security agencies are already working hard to bring the killers to justice,” Karimi said.
He appealed for calm, reassuring the traditional council and the people of Kupa that concrete steps are being taken to restore peace and prevent further tragedies.
As the community mourns, residents continue to pray for comfort for the bereaved families and hope that the killers will not escape justice.
