There was mild drama on Tuesday at the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja as security operatives engaged in a tense confrontation over the movement of the newly announced PDP National Chairman.
The incident occurred at the entrance gate of the secretariat, where security personnel were seen restricting access while insisting on clearance procedures.
Supporters who accompanied the new chairman expressed shock over what they described as a deliberate attempt to embarrass him.
In a video circulating online, security officers could be seen blocking the chairman and his entourage from entering the premises, despite repeated attempts to gain passage.
The confrontation resulted in heightened tension as party supporters chanted and demanded respect for the new leader.
Witnesses at the scene said the situation exposed deepening internal tensions within the party, following recent leadership crises and factional disagreements.
Although calm was later restored, the development has drawn widespread reactions, with many calling for immediate discipline and clarification from the party’s national leadership.
