Popular philanthropist and grassroots mobilizer, Adams Bakaso Danfulani, fondly called Quency, has expressed gratitude to the various youth groups across Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Areas who have been calling on him to join the race for the House of Representatives, Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.
In an interview with newsmen at his GRA residence in Lokoja, on Monday, Quency said he was humbled by the show of solidarity from the youths and different community groups, noting that their confidence in him reflects the people’s hunger for responsive and people-centered leadership.
“I deeply appreciate all the youth groups, opinion leaders, and supporters who have been rooting for me to contest. Their faith in me is humbling, and it shows that our community truly desires progress. However, I am still consulting widely with stakeholders, elders, and leaders of thought before making a final decision,” he stated.
The ADC stalwart, who also holds the traditional title of Hardo Brini of Lokoja, stressed that leadership is a call to service and not a personal ambition.
According to him, his consultations are necessary to ensure that any step he takes reflects the collective aspirations of the people of Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.
Over the past few weeks, several youth movements and associations have separately called on Quency to contest, citing his record of philanthropy, empowerment, and grassroots mobilization.
Many pointed to his interventions in education, skill acquisition, and welfare support as evidence that he is a man with both the capacity and willingness to serve.
Political analysts in Lokoja have observed that should Quency declare his intention, his entry could alter the dynamics of the race, given his broad acceptance among youths, women, and traditional institutions.
His accessibility and community engagement, they argue, have given him a strong base of support.
Responding to these expectations, Quency reassured his supporters that he would not take their confidence for granted.
“I believe leadership is about service. Whatever decision I take will be guided by the interest of the people. Our constituency deserves quality representation, and if the call becomes unanimous, I will not fail my people,” he said.
He also urged the youths to remain united, peaceful, and focused on development, regardless of political affiliations, adding that their voices are critical to shaping the future of the constituency.
Quency reaffirmed his commitment to community development, noting that even outside elective office, he will continue to support initiatives that uplift the people and strengthen the social fabric of Lokoja and Kogi LGAs.
