Community stakeholders and residents of Otokiti in Lokoja Local Government Area have renewed their call on Dr. Basil Ojeifo Godday to contest the Lokoja I State Constituency seat in the Kogi State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The appeal was made during a visit to his orthopedic hospital located within the community, where the delegation praised his distinguished professional achievements, philanthropic commitments, and community development initiatives.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the stakeholders said their request was driven by Dr. Godday’s long-standing record of service to humanity and his philosophy of placing community welfare above personal interest.

They described him as an orthopedic specialist, philanthropist, and community leader whose contributions continue to transform lives across Otokiti and its environs.

They noted that one of the major reasons for the call was the discounted medical services he offers to residents at his hospital, greatly easing healthcare burdens for vulnerable households.

Many families who ordinarily could not afford orthopedic care have benefited from his compassionate approach to medical treatment.

The stakeholders further highlighted his philanthropic activities, recalling how he donates food items and cash to the underprivileged, widows, and vulnerable groups during festive seasons such as Sallah, Christmas, and New Year.

According to them, these gestures have brought relief and restored hope to countless individuals in the community.

In addition to his humanitarian services, the group commended him for facilitating the construction of some roads within Otokiti, a development they said has improved accessibility, boosted economic growth, and enhanced the quality of life for residents.

Another community leader who spoke during the visit described Dr. Godday as a humble and accessible leader whose integrity and commitment to service make him a suitable candidate to champion the interests of the people in the State Assembly.

He added that the constituency needs a representative who understands grassroots challenges and has the capacity to deliver meaningful development.

Responding, Dr. Basil Ojeifo Godday appreciated the community for the honour and confidence reposed in him.

He expressed gratitude for recognizing his contributions and emphasized that leadership should always be driven by sincerity, compassion, and dedication to public good.

He assured the stakeholders that he would consult widely with political leaders, associates, and relevant groups before making a final declaration about his intention, promising to communicate his decision in due course.

The residents, however, stated their readiness to mobilize massive support for his aspiration should he agree to contest, insisting that Dr. Godday represents hope, competence, and credible leadership for Lokoja I Constituency.

They also appealed to the APC leadership to support his emergence, describing him as a beacon of progress and positive change.
