Thousands of commercial motorcyclists, commonly known as Okada riders in Lokoja local government area of Kogi State,
have on Tuesday, staged a solidarity walk from Nataco junction to the Government House in Lokoja, to felicitate with Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his one year in office.
The Okada riders who embarked on the walk from Nataco junction through the post office to the Government House said the decision to publicly identify and support the Governor was on account of his numerous laudable initiatives.
They praised Ododo’s commitment to the progress of the Okada riders and the rehabilitation of Lokoja township roads.
Speaking on behalf of his members,
the Lokoja chapter of the Nigeria Motorcycle Transport Union, Comrade Abdulrahman Abubakar Babasauti, said the solidarity walk was a bold statement by youths to appreciate Ododo for setting remarkable leadership examples.
He appreciated Ododo for giving his members sense of belonging in through his numerous empowering programs.
He further described Ododo as a game changer and transformer who is busy changing and transforming Kogi State for better.
She said: “We are here to applaud and appreciate the good works of our Governor in every facet of our dear State. We are also using this medium to make a statement that we appreciate your kindness to the Okada riders in Kogi State.
“We are particularly grateful for the young men and women you have given the chance to serve in administrative capacities across different strata of governance; this is unprecedented. Youths haven’t been given this kind of opportunity in governance in previous years,” Babasauti stressed.
