The Ohimegye Igu of Koton-Karfe, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu and the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikafi, on Saturday led other dignitaries to attend the 30-year fidau prayer for Late Shiekh Ibrahim Yabagi in Lokoja.
Other dignitaries that graced the event included the Kogi State Grand Khadi, Justice Abdulkareem Aruwa, Chairman Jama’atul Nasirul Islam, Ambassador Usman Bello, former Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Alfa Imam, Islamic Scholars and top government officials.
Sheikh Yabagi died on August 3, 1994 and was buried the same day at his Cantonment residence.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban who extolled the virtues of the deceased.
In a brief sermon, the Grand Khadi, Justice Aruwa reminded all of God’s commandment that they should take good care of their parents, dead or alive.
He admonished children to remember their dead parents through acts of charity and kindness to the needy.
Highlights of the event was recitation of the Holy Quran and lecture delivered by Justice Muhammed Bello.
