As Nigeria marks 65 years of independence, Senator Sunday Karimi has felicitated with Nigerians, urging them to remain hopeful and united while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the nation.
In his goodwill message issued in Lokoja, the Senator representing Kogi West noted that the independence anniversary is both a celebration and a time for sober reflection on the sacrifices of past heroes and the resilience of Nigerians in the face of economic and security challenges.
“October 1 reminds us of the vision of our founding fathers and the struggles of our heroes past. It is also an opportunity to recommit ourselves to the ideals of unity, peace, and prosperity. Despite challenges, the Nigerian spirit remains unbroken,” Karimi said.
The senator commended President Tinubu for demonstrating courage in steering the ship of state, especially in implementing difficult but necessary reforms to revamp the economy and strengthen democratic governance.
He urged Nigerians to support the president’s administration, stressing that meaningful progress requires collective sacrifice and patriotism.
Karimi further charged leaders at all levels to embrace transparency, accountability, and people-oriented development policies that will uplift the living standards of ordinary Nigerians.
He expressed optimism that with sustained effort and prayers, Nigeria would overcome its present challenges and emerge stronger.
While praying for peace, stability, and prosperity across the nation, the senator assured his constituents of his continued commitment to their welfare and progress.
Nigeria, which gained independence on October 1, 1960, clocks 65 this year, a milestone Senator Karimi described as “a testament to the resilience and hope of a great people determined to build a brighter future.”
