The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikafi, on Saturday received the new Sarkin Pawa of Lokoja, Alhaji Idi Ibrahim, who paid him a thank-you visit at his palace.
Idi was appointed as the new Sarkin Pawa by the Maigari on July 15, 2024.
Sarkin Pawa, is the traditional Chief of butchers.
Addressing the delegation led by Alhaji Abdullahi Uba, the royal father thanked him for assembling a high-powered delegation for the visit and explained how the new Sarkin Pawa was appointed.
“Let me start by thanking all of you for the visit. It will be important for you all to know how we arrived at the choice of Idi Ibrahim as the Sarkin Pawa.
“Before the death of my father, (the late Maigari of Lokoja) he told me that Idi was his choice for that position. But he couldn’t announce the appointment until Allah took his life.
“As I became the Maigari, I didn’t use my power to appoint him. I put up a Committee that later screened all the aspirants and came out with his name.
“Despite the recommendation of the Committee, I still invited all the Hakimis and asked if they were satisfied with the report of the team. They all obliged.
“After the acceptance, I then asked the traditional council secretary to issue the letter of appointment.
In his vote of thanks, leader of the delegation, Alhaji Abdullahi Uba who extolled the virtues and foresight of the Maigari in selecting their Son as the new Sarkin Pawa, promised continued support and loyalty to the emirate.
“We have seen your disposition to justice, fairness and equity since assumption to the throne and people from within and outside the Emirate are always speaking words of encomiums on your style of leadership, which is why we are praying for your reign to be long and peaceful”, Uba stressed.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the Thank-You visit, the new Sarkin Pawa, Alhaji Idi Ibrahim, pledged his continued loyalty to the Maigari and the emirate council, while assuring to do his best to uplift the traditional heritage and sanctity of the royal dynasty.
He thanked the Maigari for considering him worthy of the position, promising to carry all the butchers in the local government area along.
Idi prayed God to give the Maigari long life, good health and wisdom to continue to propel the emirate to greater height.
The new Sarkin Pawa further thanked all that supported him during and after the struggle, praying that Allah will reward them abondantly.
