Thousands of sympathisers on Wednesday converged on the family residence in Cantonment, Lokoja, for the 8-day Fidau prayer held in honour of Late Hajiya Adama Kolo Mohammad Alabi, who passed away at the age of 92.
The solemn prayer session, which drew relatives, friends, Islamic scholars, community leaders, political associates and well-wishers, was led by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban.
The atmosphere was filled with emotions as attendees gathered to offer prayers and reflect on the impactful life of the deceased.
In his sermon, Sheikh Shaban admonished Muslims to lead righteous lives, remain steadfast in faith and constantly remember the inevitability of death.
He emphasized that good deeds, kindness and humility remain the true legacy of every believer, urging the congregation to emulate such virtues.
Also speaking, the Maigari of Lokoja, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir maikarfi, represented by a palace official, offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the late Hajiya Adama, asking Allah to grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus and to strengthen the family during the period of mourning.
He described her as a woman known for peace, generosity and exemplary moral values.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Hon. Muhammad Maikudi Yusuf Alabi expressed profound gratitude to all who attended the Fidau prayer and supported the family in their moment of grief.
He prayed that Allah rewards everyone abundantly and grants them safe journeys back to their destinations.
He also appreciated individuals and organisations who offered moral, financial and spiritual support throughout the mourning period.
The event witnessed a large turnout of dignitaries, including the Lokoja LGA chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, Hon. Shehu Tijjani Bin Ebaiya, member representing Lokoja 1 constituency, traditional rulers, community heads, women leaders, political stakeholders, senior government officials, and representatives of various socio-cultural and religious bodies.
Many described the late Hajiya Adama as a compassionate mother, a unifying figure and a pillar of support whose influence extended beyond her immediate family.
Beyond her devotion to faith and community service, attendees recalled her role in promoting peaceful coexistence and providing guidance to younger generations.
Her home, they noted, remained a place where many sought counsel, comfort and encouragement.
Late Hajiya Adama Kolo Mohammad Alabi is survived by eight children, sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, who continue to uphold her legacy of humility, generosity and love for humanity.
