The remains of the late Etsu of Elaite, Alhaji Ahmed Aminu Akwu,
have been buried in Elaite village, Kogi State.
He died Wednesday afternoon after a brief illness.
He passed away at the age of 52 after spending 23 years on the throne.
The funeral prayer, led by the Magajin-Gari of Lokoja, Sheikh Ibrahim Etsu Kenchi, was held at the Etsu’s Palace, Elete.
It was attended by thousands of mourners, including the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, represented by the Waziri of Lokoja, Alhaji Abdulraman Idris, Representative of Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar and Imam of Kutepa Jummat Mosque, Sheikh Muhammad Yahya Abubulat, the Ohebga of Mozum, Alhaji Khalid Ali Bukar, the Director-General Government House, Dr Oricha Umar Shaibu, the Rector Kogi State Polytechnic, Prof. Usman Ogbo, Islamic Scholar and family friends.
Maigari of Lokoja described the deceased etsu as an illustrious leader who deployed the power and resources of his throne in the service of his community.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed traditional ruler and condoled his family and all those grieving the loss.
He described the late Etsu as a father who demonstrated the highest value of leadership, fostering unity, progress and development not only within Elete kingdom and Kogi State but the country as a whole.
Residents of Elaite said the traditional ruler’s death has left an irreplaceable void in their hearts.
They described the late traditional leader as a man of peace, wisdom, and immense dedication to the welfare of his people.
