The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, recently marked his 2nd year anniversary with a special prayer session and charitable outreach to support vulnerable members of the community.
The event was held at the Maigari Palace on Thursday.
The celebration began with a heartfelt prayer led by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, who prayed for wisdom, guidance, and continued prosperity for the Maigari and the people of Lokoja.
He urged the community to remain united and committed to the development of the town.
Also in attendance was Dr. Tijjani Aliyu, Sardauna of Kakanda Kingdom, who commended the Maigari for his dedicated service and leadership.
He prayed for the Maigariâs health, longevity, and continued success, describing him as a âpillar of progress and unity in Lokoja.â
The event also welcomed the representative of the Emir of Zaria, who joined other dignitaries in celebrating the Maigariâs achievements and offered prayers for his continued success in leadership.
Following the prayers, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi personally oversaw the distribution of food items and basic necessities to vulnerable residents, including widows, the elderly, and families in need.
The gesture was widely appreciated, with many beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the timely support.
Speaking during the event, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi emphasized that the anniversary was not just a celebration of his tenure but a reminder of the responsibilities of leadership.
He thanked the people for supporting him over the past two years and prayed for their health, prosperity, and unity.
He also urged community members to support initiatives that promote peace, harmony, and development in Lokoja.
The occasion also saw participation from community leaders, youth groups, and residents, who described the event as a demonstration of servant leadership.
Many lauded the Maigariâs commitment to combining spiritual guidance with tangible support for the less privileged.
As the anniversary celebration drew to a close, attendees called on other traditional and political leaders to emulate the Maigariâs example by prioritizing service to the people over personal gains.
The monarch concluded the event by expressing heartfelt thanks to all participants and reaffirmed his dedication to fostering progress and harmony in Lokoja.
