Youths from Lokoja Ward D, on Saturday apprehended and severely beat a thirty-eight-year-old, Hassan Salihu, a suspected thief who was allegedly caught burgling a house in Angwan-Kura street in Lokoja local government area of Kogi State.
According to National Watch Tv findings, a passerby witnessed the suspect in the act of burgling a woman’s house and raised an alarm, attracting the attention of youths in the area.
The suspect attempted to flee but was chased down and captured by the youths.
Following the apprehension, he was subjected to a severe beating and later handed over to the Lokoja local government area Vigilant Group.
Speaking with our correspondent at the scene, the suspect, who claimed to be a block layer and native of Igala from Dekina LGA but resides at Angwan-Kura hill top confessed to the crime.
He said, “I break the house and stole a standing fan, Speaker and some petty items.”
When asked about who he intended selling the stolen items to, he said: “I have a buyer who lives along Kpata road. Is name is Muhammed.
Investigation revealed that the suspect just completed a six months jail term three weeks ago. He served at Oke Ibukun Correctional Center.
