The election which will bring together delegates from 10 ethnic sections to vote in the Quadrennial Local Government Delegates Conference, is slated for Saturday, June 1, 2024.
At a briefing to herald the event, the NMTU State Secretary, Comrade Umar Anas Ukpayi said the business session will hold on same day and will involve the dissolution of the current Local Government executive members and bring in new executive council members.
He hinted that all aspirants will be screened soon.
According to him; “they have all signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU with the credentials committee put in place for the election.
On the allegation that a top politician wants to impose a chairmanship candidate, Ukpayi said it is not true.
“Only some weak candidates are the ones dripping the names of some top politicians to scare others.
“As far as we are concerned, no politician has approached us. Neither do they show interest on any candidate. The election cannot be influenced by anybody,” he explained.
