Lokoja Local Government Area Caretaker Chairman, Comrade Abdullah Adamu has donated N1 million to residents of Jamata community whose shops and houses were gutted by fire.
The LG Boss made the donation when he visited the scene of the incident on Thursday in the company of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and top local government officials.
He said the state government was sad about the losses recorded in the inferno.
The LG Boss said only those who knew the area before the fire would understand the level of destruction that had been done at the scene.
“For today, we will immediately make available the sum of N1 million and then we will quickly inform the state government about the incident and seek for help in erecting these shops and buildings back.
“For those who have lost almost all they have, I will say so long as there is life, there is hope, and this must not discourage you in any way; things will happen, but your resilience determines it all.
One of the community leader, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, appreciated the local government for what he described as a holistic approach and prompt response to the plight of common people.
The leader, lauded the local government Caretaker Chairman for visiting the scene of the fire outbreak immediately after the incident happened.
