It was a gathering of who is who in Nigeria on Thursday at the 8-Day fidau prayer for Hajiya Fatima Abdallah, the late mother of Manager of Gosaki Hotels, Lokoja, Barrister Saiyadi Abubakar.
The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, led the pack of dignitaries that attended the fidau prayer for the repose of the soul of Alhaja Rafat, in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
Other dignitaries that graced the event include former speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Alfa Imam, Ohegba of Mozum, Alhaji Khalid Bukar II, Hakimis, top government officials, top politicians, the Dama of Lokoja, Alhaji Sulaiman Baba, members of Danko Dev. Association, traditional title holders amongst others.
Hajiya Fatima died on Thursday at the age of 76 and was buried same day at Hangwan Kura Muslim cemetery in Lokoja.
The fidau prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban who was supported by eminent scholars including the Chief Imam of Isah Kutepa Juma’at Mosque, Shiekh Yahaya Abubilat, Shiekh Abubakar Adamu and Islamic scholars.
The Chief Imam who extolled the virtues of the deceased prayed Allah to forgive and grant her eternal rest.
In a brief sermon, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, charged the children of the deceased to sustain her legacies of good neighbourliness and friendly disposition to family members.
Shaban reminded the children of God’s commandment that they should take good care of their parents, dead or alive.
He admonished children to remember their dead parents through acts of charity and kindness to the needy.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf prayed that Almighty Allah grant the soul of late Hajiya Fatima Aljanat Firdaus and consoled her children over the painful loss.
He Prayed that God Almighty grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the fidau prayer, different speakers spoke about the qualities of Hajiya Fatima and the reflection of the character in her son, Barrister Abubakar and prayed that he will continue to uphold the virtues.
The Chief Mourner, Barrister Saiyadi Abubakar stated in a brief press address that his mother’s sudden death was the most devastating moment of his life.
He noted that his mother led an exemplary life and that she would be deeply missed.
Abubakar prayed Almighty Allah grant her Aljannat Firdaus and thanked all the people who trooped out for the fidau prayer.
Highlight of the event was the recitation of the Holy Quran.
