Ahead of the October 19, local government council election in Kogi State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lokoja Local Government Area has collapsed its structure into the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the APC campaign flag-off held in Lokoja on Wednesday.
In an interview with Hon. Farouk Bakabe, who led the ADC members to the venue of the flag off ceremony, shortly after the occasion, said the ADC joined the APC with all its 10 Wards local government executive members.
Bakabe said the decision to collapse the ADC into the APC was for the smooth election of the Lokoja APC Council Chairmanship candidate, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, who he described as a performer.
He said: “Since the ADC is not presenting any candidate for the forthcoming local government election in Kogi State, our leader, Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Constituency has instructed us to collapse our structures into APC.
Bakabe assured that all ADC members in Lokoja Local Government Area are solidly behind Comrade Abdullahi Adamu and will elect him.
The ADC members were received into the APC by the party chairman, Alhaji Maikudi Bature who handed them over to the leader of the party, Alhaji Sulaiman Baba-Ali.
Bature said the APC is getting stronger by the day, adding that the continuous support of the people for the APC was an assurance of victory.
